The Good Effects of a School Uniform

The issue of uniforms in schools is an old one. It has been discussed for years, and although there is strong evidence that they help students succeed, we remain divided on this issue. Making students dress the same way destroys their main reason for making fun of others. Less teasing means fewer outbursts of violence and more overall peace. Children make fun of other children because they are different or, in a real example, they dress badly. Uniforms unify the student body and eliminate these differences.

Less affluent students will probably not be able to afford the latest fashion trends. This makes them the target of bullying by wealthier kids and is likely to lead to fights if they confront their tormentors. Students from all economic classes wear uniforms and lose their sense of superiority or inferiority. Everyone becomes more similar.

Gangs manifest themselves through colored clothing and flags; without these colors to identify individual gangs, it is more difficult for these groups to be active in the school environment. This creates a safer learning environment for everyone.

Uniforms also promote good behavior. The introduction of a policy requiring students to behave in a respectful and courteous manner at all times while wearing their uniforms shapes manners into their daily routine. Students wear their uniforms for most of the day, so they should be respected for most of the day.

Personal clothing can be an extremely distracting force in a school. Graphic T-shirts attract attention, low-cut blouses attract men’s attention, girls argue in the middle of class about where they got their shoes, and the list goes on and on. In the end, the school can become a huge clothing contest among the students and no longer serves as an effective learning center for education.

Keeping up with the latest fashions can be exhausting and expensive. Uniforms are cheaper and easier to maintain. If a student takes care of keeping their uniforms in order, they can save time and money.

And on top of that, it’s ten times easier to design a uniform for the next day than to put together a suit. They can be reused because there is no such thing as a smart uniform. All things considered, uniforms seem to be the right way to go.
